early LA's NOT student horns, fabulous sound!!
For me, these are the key early years on these....if you see the serial list, they made only a few of these in the first few years and I think they used a different supplier on the bell brass, as these sound AMAZING!.....once they geared up after 1952, you can see that they made a boatload more each year....once again I believe with different bell brass.....this particular horn must have had the finger ring knocked off as it has a hook, but I do have an extra original ring, so if you'd like it back on just let me know.....horn is serial of 64xxx, so probably mid 51.....in raw brass....valves and slides in great shape...a few dings, nothing major.....I've given it my chem clean, and all new felts/corks...kept the original valve springs....it really has a richer sound than later horns, much like the new york bachs have THAT sound....more overtones?....whatever it is, it's the type of sound that actually fits in many settings, not one dimensional.....no case or mouthpiece
