This rod is designed for “float & fly” fishing. It’s an almost vertical technique for catching big smallies on really steep banks and cliff faces where they tend to congregate during the cold months. We made this rod extra long and extra light so you can fish light line and manage a lot of line below the float. Excellent touch for fishing micro-light hair jigs & pork trailers. There’s plenty of power for fighting fish, but the real advantage here is the light weight. You’ve got enough to worry about without holding a tip-heavy rod all day long.
