| Angelina Fiber Colors | Angelina
fibers are chameleon-like, reflecting the colors of the light and
objects nearby, making them difficult to photograph. The fibers
sometimes change color a bit
when you heat-fuse them. But
that's just part of the charm and flexibility of these fibers;
they'll provide you with a pleasant surprise with each new use. The following picture shows 3 grams of each of the 17 colors, nested in egg cartons. But purchase this eBay listing, and you will receive 17 9-gram bags -- 3 times as much as is shown in the photo. Your Angelina Fiber will be sent in 17 individually labeled zip-lock bags. ![]() |
| Technique and Uses |
If you've
heard about Angelina fiber, you have some idea of the many ways
this heat fusible fiber can enhance your creativity. Bonding temperature is approximately 225°F. Simply place a small amount of Angelina fiber between two sheets of parchment paper. Heat iron to "silk" or a low temperature setting, experimenting with your own iron--as temperatures may vary. Gently, with little pressure, move the iron back and forth, checking progress frequently. Generally Angelina "hot fix" (heat-b0ndable) fiber will adhere only to itself and not to other threads, fibers, or bits of paper or fabric. But it can hold these bits within its own bonding--creating even more color, sparkle, and interest. Angelina fiber is being used in art quilts, artist trading cards, one-of-a-kind postcards, fiber art journals, altered books, unique box covers, fabric sculptures, scrapbooking, contemporary crazy quilting, jewelry, decorative embellishments for bags and apparel, embroidery, dream catchers, greeting cards, adding sparkle to handspun fibers and purchased yarns, seasonal decor, placemats, floral centerpieces, bookmarks, crafting, art projects, fishing lures, party projects, lampshades, doll hair, hair weaving, and more. There seem to be no limits to the fabulous ways this fiber is being put to use! |
| How Much? | The following photo illustrates that a little goes
a long way with Angelina Fiber. On the left, the large plastic bag is
packed with 9 grams of Angelina Fiber, the small plastic bag
is packed with 3 grams of Angelina
Fiber, and the little fluffy ball of fiber is exactly 1 gram of
Angelina Fiber. Lay out 1 gram of fiber in a very thin layer and iron it between two sheets of parchment paper to make a sheer piece of fabric. This is shown in the photo below at top right. The piece has been rolled at the top to show how it holds together after being heat bonded/fused. Lay out 1 gram of fiber in a thicker layer and iron it between two sheets of parchment paper to make a thicker piece of fabric. This is shown in the photo below at bottom right. This piece has also been rolled at the top to show how it holds together after being heat bonded/fused. ![]() |

| Manufacturer Information |
Optical special effect Angelina® fibers have an unbelievable luminescence and cashmere-like hand making them the softest
metallic-like staple fibers in the world. Polyester based, the
fiber colors vibrate with light for a
chameleon effect, giving the illusion of dimension. The iridescent color shift is due to light interference through two constituent types of polymers with different refractive indices. When light enters this structure, the shape produces an interference color, that is produced through the physical phenomenon of light interference alone. Another Angelina® fiber effect is a holographic color shift, occurring when light is reflected from a mirror surface of vacuum deposited aluminum through an optically transparent polymer embossed with a diffraction pattern of depth. As the viewing angle changes, entire spectrums of color are made visible dependent on light type, source, intensity and viewing directions, producing perceived color motion. Multi-mélanges with subtle, luminescent-iridescent highlights, soft metallic highlights, heavy metallic effects, clear sparkle highlights, brilliant color shifts or ultra high-tech color refractive sparks result, depending on the Angelina® fiber denier used and fiber saturation levels. |
