One lot of 130 NEW pieces of Newcomer N50 round carbide inserts

This is a carbide insert we once used, but do not any longer. I do not know why we don't use it. I think it was used to cut railroad wheels. It is a BIG ROUND insert.

  • shape is ROUND, standard code is RNMA 106
  • OD is 1.25 inch
  • ID is 0.50 inch
  • Edge thickness is 0.365 inch
  • Center thickness is 0.377 inch (there is a step around the edge, but not a chipbreaker groove)
  • Date code 5-90
  • Five pieces per box, twenty six boxes
  • Label also says 89038/LW
  • Please note I did not check every single box for all 5 pieces. One or two could be missing, but I don't think so. Most of them look untouched. Thanks for your understanding!
N50 material info found on the web (please verify for yourself!):

N50 is used to semi-finish and finish machine hardened ferrous materials. N50 is extremely effective in replacing grinding. Its medium cBN content, together with its cermet second phase, give N50 a unique combination of toughness, hardness, and chemical wear resistance. MegaDiamond N50 is particularly efficient in light to medium interrupted cuts.

Applications: N50, with its unique balance of chemical stability, mechanical wear resistance and toughness, targets primarily applications such as interrupted hard turning, hard milling, and interrupted hard grooving
