Do It Yourself Region & Zone Kit (or “Kit”)
By successfully installing this Kit yourself, it will allow your Oppo BDP-83 to now be REGION-FREE, Code-Free, Multi-Zone, Zone-Free, etc player. This will allow for:
1) Region-Free DVD 2) Remote DVD Region Selection 0-6 / Free 3) Remote Blu-ray Zone selection A, B or C
INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS 1. Disconnect the main power cable. Remove the player’s top cover retaining screws, and then lift the rear of the top cover slowly at 45° while carefully pulling it free from the front panel. It is recommend that you insert a piece of paper or card on each side of the gap between the front panel and the top cover before applying force to tilt and pull the top cover off.
2. Remove the flat ribbon cable running from the front panel to the main board. Gently pull out by hand; the cable is a snug fit.
3. Fold the new cable from the Kit as shown below. Important: The original cable is fitted with the writing facing away from the disc drive. The replacement cable is the other way around. The important thing is that pin 1 (top) goes to the front of the main board connector (front of player). See >>>
4. Connect the short end of the ribbon cable to front panel.
5. Connect the longer end to the main board. Make sure the cable is flat when pushing it into the sockets and that it is fully inserted. Peal off the backing and attach the board to the disc drive with the adhesive pad.
6. Connect the power supply cable (red, white, black) to the brown 6-pin plug at the rear of the main board. The plug will only fit in one way – do not force it in it if does not fit.
7. Installation is now complete. Replace the player’s top cover and tighten the screws with the player on a flat surface to ensure the chassis is not twisted.

Then press 2 for Zone B (you will hear 2 beeps), press 3for Zone C (you will hear 3 beeps), or to revert to Zone A, press 1 (you will hear 1 beep).
5. To switch to a specific Region for DVD (other than Region‐Free),press and hold the red button on the Remote Control for about 5 seconds until you hear beeps.
