SILENT NIGHT BLOODY NIGHT - 1974  -  The Classic, Cult X-mas Horror film, and one of the first of the 'slasher' horror films. Big & Creeky Old Butler Mansion was a home for the insane until terrible murders occured one Christmas Eve. The asylum is closed, but eventually the owner's grandson returns one Christmas to sell the place. Unfortunately, it seems the psychotic killer has also returned and is intent upon committing another murder spree to keep the place uninhabited.

CHRISTMAS EVIL - aka You'd Better Watch Out - 1980 - Another cult classic X-mas scarefest, considered to be one of the best of the type, A youngster has a traumatic experience around Christmas-time and is obsessed with the holiday, but not always in a good way.  As an adult, he finally snaps and goes on a killing spree while dressed as Santa.

SCROOGE - 1935 - Here is the rarely seen, British-made version of Charles Dickens' Christmas Carol, and it is probably the truest and spookiest adaptation made. You know the story, but in this fine version, Scrooge is the nastiest and most hideous ogre ever, and his visible transformation is more than amazing, quite like a Jeckyll and Hyde. The ghostly visits are done with no punches pulled and are as eerie and frightening as Dickens imagined in print. This is not like the typical sanitized American versions always shown on TV at Christmas-time, and it is well-worth a look. Warning: little kids could be frightened by some of the presentation of the phantoms and ghostly spirits here.

Christmas Horror movies are not for everyone's taste, but for those who are bored with happy & joyous Christmas shows, these are just the right thing.
