This is a very very nice 14kt Solid Yellow Gold 1/4 carat Diamond, 20" Pendant Necklace from my personal collection.  The yellow gold chain is a type of a twisted rope chain that has some diamond cutting to make it sparkle.  It has a good weight (4.70grams)  to it...not chincy!  This piece is in wonderful estate condition and could easily pass as new.  The closure on the necklace is a type of slide locking mechanism which is clearly marked as 14kt.  

The diamond measures 4.2mm which translates into 0.25ctw or 1/4 carat of diamond.  I am not a diamond grader but have seen a few in my day and would give this somewhere in the area of SI2-SI3 in clarity and a K in color.  It is definitely a decent diamond and looks very nice in the yellow gold.  The diamond is prong set with 4 secure prongs.  This is a very cool piece and would be a great addition to anyones jewelry box.

 I have been asked about the color rating of "k".  The diamond has a very slight slight yellow tone to it which may be because of the yellow gold setting reflection.
