This is a very majestic, large, American Victorian Bookcase. It is made of Birch and has a rich, golden, Birch patina. The finish is beautifully crazed, showing its' great age. It is in very good condition.
The Bookcase has a Pronounced Molded Pediment.
The High Gallery Back has Glazed Double Doors. These Doors open to reveal an extensive interior with Three Shelves flowing across the top. The Back of the interior is finely paneled. Your personal library will display beautifully here.
The Upper Vitrine portion of the Bookcase is supported upon beautifully carved, Tapering Quadrangular Columns. The back of the Display Area is also finely paneled.
The Base of the Bookcase has Four Graduated Drawers flowing down the center. The graduated design of these Drawers and their splendid Dove Tail Joints are an indication of a very fine Cabinet Maker.
The Central Drawers are flanked by Drawers over Doors upon each side. The Drawers open to reveal roomy interiors. The Doors are made in Sunken Panel Design. They open to reveal a roomy storage compartment with a Shelf flowing across the center.
The Bookcase has its' original hardware. This includes the original Victorian Latches and Ornate Cup Handles.
The Bookcase has a beautifully molded, Plinth Base.
This is a very masculine, American Victorian Bookcase. It will look incredible in a gentleman's library.
This piece would make a spectacular cabinet in a free standing kitchen. It has an incredible display area and the storage capacity is fabulous.
