2000+ Year Old Nabatean Pottery Shards - Perta, Jordon

There are 5 dime/quarter size Nabatean pottery shards in each lot you are bidding on. These shards are from the Lost City of Petra (Jordon), thought to be from the 1st Century BC and many have ridge designs or edge lips.

As the capital city of a vast trading empire, ancient Petra was surrounded by suburbs, customs points, watering stations, garrisons and other accoutrements.  Petra and the surrounding area have been inhabited for over 9,000 years.  A ring of pre-pottery Neolithic sites surround Petra, which is identified as one of the world’s earliest agricultural settlements. There are carved facades, temples, cisterns and other remnants of civilization throughout the town and the neighboring countryside.  It’s impossible to plant a garden in this wilderness area without finding coins, beads or shards of the wafer-thin Nabatean pottery. These shards were personally collected by me on a trip to Petra, Jordon in 2009 and will enclose a copy day pass for the date the shards were found.
