This is an opulent French Empire Twin Size Bed. We purchased it in Paris , France. The Bed is made of Walnut and has a rich, Medium Walnut Patina. It is in excellent condition.
The Headboard has a beautifully molded Crest Rail. On the lower tier of the Crest Rail are beautifully formed Ormolu Mounts with a Rosette at the center flanked by Scrolls and Bell Flowers.
The Center Panel of the Headboard has a splendid Bookmark Pattern of Burl Walnut. This gorgeous pattern of grain creates a very beautiful Headboard.
At either side are beautifully turned, Fluted Columns with Acanthus Leaf embellishments at the bottom. Rosette Blocks are at the top of the Columns, with an Acorn Finial crowning each.
The Bed is supported upon Fluted Tapering Baluster Turned Feet.
The design of the Foot board is similar. It has the same Fluted Columns and Feet. But there, the similarities end. The Foot board is framed by a complex Multi-tiered Molding. It frames an incredibly fine Center Panel with an intricate Parquetry Pattern. Diagonal Banding flows ARCO's the surface in both directions framing Diamond Forms of Walnut. At each intersection of the Banding is a Small Diamond Form. The Pattern of the grain alternates with each block. The pattern is quite intricate and very beautiful.
The Bed comes with matching Bed Rails. These are finely formed.
This is an extremely fine, French Empire Twin Bed. If you have been searching for a beautiful period piece for you guest bedroom, this one is the perfect choice.
