While bowhunting, you don't always have the time to use a conventional range finding scope. Often the animal seems to appear out of nowhere, in a spot that you have not checked the yardage to, and offers a shot for only a few seconds.
With a conventional rangefinder, you would have to pick it up, range the animal, put the range finder down, pick up your bow, draw, aim and release your arrow. This is a LOT of movement, and requires quite a bit of time. The animal can, and often will, move a considerable distance in the time required to do all of this.
