ZOMBIE HEAVEN is a four disc set that contains all the Zombie's original recordings plus outtakes, B-sides, alternate versions and live BBC recordings as well as a 64-page book.
The Zombies: Colin Blunstone (vocals); Paul Atkinson (guitar); Rod Argent (keyboards); Chris White (bass); Hugh Grundy (drums).
Recorded between 1964 and 1969. Includes liner notes by Alec Palao.
Likely the most aptly-named box set in history, ZOMBIE HEAVEN is a flat-out masterpiece of the form. Containing four discs in a book-size case, ZOMBIE HEAVEN compiles every extant recording from the 1964 to 1968 recording career of this influential jazz-inflected pop quintet from St. Albans, England. Besides demos, BBC sessions, alternate takes, promo spots and unissued songs, the set includes the band's many singles from 1964's BEGIN HERE and 1968's classic ODESSEY AND ORACLE. The packaging includes a book-length essay by Zombies historian Alec Palao--who is the bassist in the Zombies-influenced pop band the Sneetches--that features extended interviews with all five Zombies--Colin Blunstone, Rod Argent, Chris White, Paul Atkinson and Hugh Grundy. The wonderfully-designed book also includes many photos. The songs are remastered directly from the original master tapes, using the superior mono single mixes where applicable. ZOMBIE HEAVEN is essential to all '60s British pop fans.
