Norfolk Manor Mahogany Glazed Library Bookcase

Description:
This is a very good quality hand-made Georgian design mahogany library bookcase by "Norfolk Manor Furniture Limited of Great Yarmouth".  This is a fine quality three door glazed bookcase standing on a moulded blind plinth, rising over which are three fielded panelled doors in solid mahogany, behind each door is a single adjustable shelf having three frieze drawers over with beautiful solid brass swan neck handles with circular back-plates complete with original locks and escutcheons, although we have no keys for the door locks, but we have keys for the cupboard locks.  Rising above this is the solid mahogany top and surmounting is the three door glazed bookcase section with eight panels per door with three adjustable shelves behind each of the doors surmounted by a figured flame mahogany frieze and solid mahogany flared cornice.  The construction is both solid and veneered mahogany.  The drawer linings are solid oak with dovetail joints.  The bookcase retains its original finish, having good colour and patination having a medium mahogany finish.  A lovely quality piece of furniture.

The bookcase dates from the late 20th Century.

Condition:
The bookcase is in good condition, with some minor distress marks and minor distress marks to leading edges to the moulding over the drawers.  There is one small chip on the rear right hand side of the bookcase section where it meets the base, there is a small chip there, but otherwise in very nice condition.  There are some minor rub marks where the upper and lower sections splits.  The centre door in the lower section has a small warp but does not affect the piece structurally and only adds to character.
