Description:

Biblia old and new testaments Doct. Martin Luther printed by Emanuel and Johann Rudolph Thurneysen at Basel Switzerland in 1720. 1158 page 9 1/2 by 15 inch Holy Bible missing spine and covers (am including a loose one from a much later date) in very good condition with a little wear near the beginning and end. Most of the pages are remarkably crisp. The endpapers contain the family history of Hans Hennerer married to Magdalene Breisbuelerin from Lauberswill near Bern in 1750. They brought 6 children (named with birthdates) to America in 1767 and settled in Libanon ( Lebanon) Miller Town Pennsylvania. He remarried in 1783 to Elisabeth Carschnitzin by a friend in Millers City a pastor Theodor Miller. The last scan shows 4 of the more interesting scraps of paper stuck among the pages (on one is written 1786 John Haner was born the 27th of August 1786). The Bible and the family history are in old German. Pages 172 and 173 of the new testament have the wrong page numbers printed (168 and 169. Numerous illustrations a few are shown in the photos. S&H will be free in the U.S. more elsewhere.
