THE CLUE OF THE NAKED EYE

Charlotte Murray Russell has created in Jane Amanda Edwards a spinster detective who has taken high rank in that ever-popular category.

Jane in action is something fearful and wonderful to behold; her admirers agree that nothing short of a hurricane or a dust storm can start and finish quite as much trouble.

In THE CLUE OF THE NAKED EYE Jane is really tops; along with a murder investigation she has the soul-shaking responsibility of keeping her brother Arthur from the clutches of a giddy widow-woman with money.

Arthur started it all; h was inclined to “weakness”, which people not so devoted as Jane call drink, and he was extremely susceptible.

Both of these failings of Arthur’s were responsible for his being found right on the scene of a murder, his white shirt front blotched with blood and his actions highly questionable.

Lieutenant George Hammond of the Rockport Police chose just that moment to come along, and from then on poor Jane had to find somebody guilty, to prove Arthur innocent.

Jane clung throughout the course of the investigation to the essential clue, even though it nearly cost her her life and did land her in the hospital.

George Hammond was forced to admit that without her tenacity the case would not have been solved, and even Arthur admitted she had her uses.

The initial bid price for this very rare hardback book is $39.99 - a price reflecting its rarity.
The cost of shipping - AIRMAIL - INSURED - and handling is a set rate of $10.50 - due to weight ($8.50 postage + $2.00 handling) for continental U.S.A.
