Synopsis

BOLT (rated G) is a crime-fighting Hollywood dog with his own hit TV series in which he puts super powers to work in the name of justice and against a world of evil cats. But that’s just the start. When he escapes from the studio believing that his devoted owner is in danger – and convinced that his super powers are real – it’s the catalyst for an endearing animated action movie that’s part road trip, part buddy comedy and 100% fun.

If BOLT sounds like a pretty amazing dog, maybe it comes down to his breeding. Voiced by legendary actor John Travolta and created by the same Disney team responsible for Cars and The Incredibles, this is a movie with the sort of pedigree that quickly earned it an Academy Award nomination.

When BOLT kidnaps a streetwise alley cat with the unlikely handle of ‘Mittens’ (voiced by Susie Essman) and teams up with a hyperactive TV addict hamster called Rhino (Mark Walton) the trio is propelled into a cross-country escapade that proves friends can come from unlikely places…and that you don’t need super powers to be a hero.

Animation has come leaps and bounds in the last few years and BOLT ups the ante once again – the characters and action are brilliant and engaging. But what really delivers is the story. Disney have stepped up with one of those wonderful tales that keeps the kids laughing whilst serving up great entertainment for the grown ups, too.
