Q: Why Japanese import?
A: Many rare and obscure records are reissued on CD only in Japan.  Japanese remastered CDs are known for superior sound quality.  They exactly replicate the artwork and liner notes of the original LP and often include lyrics in English.  Some contain bonus tracks which are unavailable elsewhere.  They are produced in limited quantities and tend to go out of print quickly, especially the mini lp edition.

Q: What is an obi strip?
A: An obi strip is a loop of folded paper usually found around the left side of a Japanese LP record or CD.  It features the title and other information, such as price and catalog numbers.  The name comes from the sashes worn with kimonos and martial arts uniforms.  Though this is a purely functional item in Japan, products that feature an obi strip have become desirable among collectors.

Q: What is a mini lp?
A: A mini lp is a CD version of a music album that was originally released as a 12" vinyl record.  Also known as LP replicas, mini lp CDs replicate the original packaging of the first vinyl release. They play on any CD player.  For more info, visit www.minilps.net.
