A truely impressive hot cast solid Bronze sculpture set on a superb piece of marble depicting a Satyr or faun from Greek Mythology (see below) in an extremely sensual embrace with the beautiful naked woman portrayed (see the tenderness of the embrace in the pictures below.) This is a huge and very heavy bronze sculpture and measures 24 inches in height x 13 inches wide. It would make a wonderful eye catching and conversational feature displayed in the home or outdoors. As it is bronze it can be displayed outside and will not rust. Whilst it is a recast of the original antique it is not brand new as it was purchased from a house clearer. It is a quality bronze with outstanding attention to detail and a rich dark brown patina which indicates that it is a quality bronze.  The Satyr in Greek Mythology was a half-man, half-goat, a very mischievous nature spirit that haunted the woods and mountains and was the companion of Pan and Dionysys. Satyrs are called brothers of the mountain nymphs and Kuretes and are strongly connected with the cult of  Dionysys. Satyrs are male followers; the female followers of Dionysus are maenads.
