Planting Instructions
If you cant grow daylilies then you might as well stop breathing! Truely, they are the easiest plants to grow and thats why so may people adore them( including me! Its actually how I started.. i wanted to be a dayliy farm, more about me later! smiles..)
one thing to remember is the life of the plant is in the roots!!!
We cut back all our fans when we ship so not to strain the plant trying to keep those fans green and lush.. if you ever buy daylilies from other sourses than us( big mistake.. smiles again,) make sure if they have not cut the fans back that you do!)
Upon arrival soak the roots... not the crowns( the green parts) just the roots for about a day.
Dig a hole, put in some plant food, ( yes, we do sell my own special blend of plant food) and spread out the roots like your hand spreads out and plant the roots.
YOUR done... what? yes, there is more you can do.. but this is all you have to do. Two years ago, my husband was cleaning out our rows. He threw some dayliles in the corner, no dirt, no water, no love and do know those dayliles came up and bloomed in my corner.. 300 of them???
Now if you want to be fancy... do the below
Rooting Hormone Powder; This is by far the most important thing you can do to insure good growth as well as best growing conditions for your plant, I use 3 pounds of it each year, for the small gardener use Root Tone get a ½” to ¾” brush I use a artists brush only cause it holds it better I first put it kinda heavy on any cuts then white roots then everywhere else lightly. This will get in to put out feeder roots, (thats why we feed ours!) within the 1st 12 days and helps take the shock of transplanting it out... it will also help prevent rot!
Water; Daylilies require 1” a week 2” in dry areas water only at dusk or very early in the morning I prefer morning. More is better….
We also send out terrific instructions with our daylilies so dont fear.. Im always here to help you too... 365 days a year!!!
