The descendants of A.J. Bennett tell the story of the glassworks and products of the Cambridge Glass Company founded by A.J. Bennett in 1901. Award-winning Cambridge glass was generally hand made. “The company manufactured tableware, tumblers, stemware, novelties and gifts in many designs. Most of the patterns were original designs of Mr. Bennett. Over 5,000 moulds were used to create the complete line.” This thorough introduction to Cambridge glass discusses the people who were most instrumental in making the glassworks a continued success, and chapters treat of glassware terms, Cambridge glass colors, identifying marks, techniques of making fine glassware. This volume includes a section of colored plates and plates from Cambridge glass catalogs, plus a useful index. Anyone interested in collecting Cambridge glass, as well as dealers and curators, will find this out-of-print book an attractive and useful addition to a permanent reference library.
