Album notes
2 LPs on 1 CD: DUANE A GO-GO (1965)/DOES BOB DYLAN (1965). The two 1965 albums combined here are full of the trademark Duane Eddy sound. Eddy had a simple formula--simple melody lines played on the lowest strings of the guitar and than heavily echoed--but it proved surprisingly adaptable. Here he tackles rock, blues, country, R&B, and folk rock, lending his unique sound to all of them. It all makes for great fun in a charming, period-piece kind of way, but don't take the DOES DYLAN part of the title too literally; Eddy also covers faux-folk songs by legendary producer Lee Hazlewood. In particular, Eddy's version of "House of the Rising Sun," replete with baroque-rock harpsichord, folk-rock harmonica, and proto-acid-rock fuzz-guitar.
