Album notes
LONELIEST IN THE MORNING was originally released in 1997 on Sub Pop Records. Julie Doiron's first solo album after leaving the Nova Scotia alternative rockers Eric's Trip (for which she played bass), LONELIEST IN THE MORNING was about a decade ahead of its time with its blend of spartan acoustic folk and Velvet Underground-like moody atmospherics. Reissued in 2008, with three bonus tracks on Jagjaguwar Records (a label much more in tune with Doiron's musical aesthetic), LONELIEST IN THE MORNING feels strikingly prescient, sounding very much like more recent releases by the likes of Cat Power and Feist.
