TRUE FIRST 1897 ALTEMUS ALICE in WONDERLAND, 4 COLOR !
 

     RARE FIRST ALTEMUS EDITION / PRINTING, done just 7 years after the First Carroll Authorized Color Illustrated Version, "The NURSERY ALICE", with the Frontis the same Illustration as the Cover of that Truly Rare Title, done by E. Gertrude Thimson!  Large 7" x 9" Format, allowing for those great pale green surrounds on every page, emphasizing it and the OTHER 3 ORIGINAL COLOR PLATES, containing All of Tenniel's Originals as well!!

    VERY GOOD- / VERY GOOD + Condition, with Boards somewhat soiled and scuffed, moderate outer edge cloth wear, Full Spine with some tip wear, with bottom fraying.  Full Green applied to all page edges...FIRST STATE!

     Interior is Complete in 160 Pages with Original end papers as only ones having any tanning.   No NAMES, MARKS or DAMAGE.  Binder a bit shaken, with No Loose Pages, both hinges uncracked!

    NOTE:  The Popular Library smaller version with the King & Queen on the Yellow Cloth cover is a later reprint of this First Edition (Even though it shows the 1897 Copyright as well), DONE WITHOUT THE SURROUNDS.

   A VERY SOLID EXAMPLE of The VERY SCARCE FIRST ALTEMUS EDITION -- Not Available anywhere else on the net at this time.
