MUSICAL WOODEN SERVING PLATTER.  This item was acquired from an estate, and from what I could see, everything there was very well taken care of, and this platter is no exception.  I did see one flaw, but I think it's actually a flaw in the wood itself, probably put there when it was manufactured.  It isn't that noticeable, it tends to blend in with the wood grain pattern.  It is a beautiful wood platter in excellent condition.  It's notable feature is that it is musical.  There is a music box inside the base, and when the bowl is lifted, a pin is released and a very pleasant tune starts playing.  When the bowl is put back down, the pin is pushed back in again and the music stops.  I don't know the tune, and as it came from an estate, there is no documentation to provide any information, but it is a very pleasant tune.  The music box is key wound.  It would certainly get the attention of your guests when it gets passed around. A nice and unique addition to a collection too. It measures 14.5" in diameter and is about 1" deep.
