Mo's Songs! - a six disc tribute collection printed and given out to employees of Warner Brothers/ Reprise Records in 1994 on the occasion of Mo Ostin's retirement from the record industry. Mo was instrumental in the development of the company as a haven for artists in the the burgeoning rock industry during the 1960s and 1970s. He was originally hired by Frank Sinatra to oversee his new record label, Reprise, a subsidiary label for Warner Brothers Records, started to provide a friendly label for Sinatra and his Rat Pack buddies. However, under Ostin's guidance, Reprise became a leader in signing and recording countless important artists as the rock era evolved, and he continued to oversee A/R when Reprise was incorporated into the Warner Brothers label as an equal entity.
A look at the collection of songs and artists represented in this set, a complete overview of Ostin's signings during his career, gives you an idea of just how influential Ostin was in the record industry. This collection of material alone makes this set a worthwhile addition to any record fan's collection.
The set of six CDs is encased in a hard bound 54 page book (CD sized) that provides a history of Mo's time at WB/Reprise. Each disc has a different record label imprinted on the surface.
