Vintage Japanese Kokeshi Doll - 'Camelia' by Tamura Noboru

  • 24cm Tall

  • 550g Heavy

This stunning creative (sosaku) Vintage Japanese Doll was created by the famous artist, Tamura Noboru and is signed underneath.  Noboru has won many awards including the Trade Ministry Industry and the Minister of Agriculture Awards. This doll is an early version of the Camelia Doll, having a thicker band of hair nad heavy outlined eyes. She has been handmade from a beautiful textured wood and is handpainted with a stylised face and muted floral design on the body. The doll is coated in a lovely lustred varnish and is in very good condition, with only minor scratches and wear in the varnish.
