Lot # 70
First battle in Hampton Roads, between the Confederate Merrimac, Yorktown and Jamestown and the Federal wooden sailing frigates, Cumberland and Congress. March,8,1862

These sketches were all done in the field as they were happening, by different artists, then published in Harpers Weekly Newspaper.
I have been selling these matted and shrink wrapped in my store and at shows.
Now that I have retired I'm just moving inventory out at low low prices.
Some of these have sold for a good sum, depending on subject matter.

Taken from Frank Leslies Illustrated History of the Civil war.
Done in the late 1800's.
Will look great framed.
Very brittle with some edge fraying and typical foxing of paper this old.
Measures 12 x 16.5 inches.
It will be shipped flat in a priority box insured.
You can ship up to 4 of these for the price of one
