CIVIL WAR CDV PHOTOGRAPH ADVERTISING ARTIST PORTRAITS

A nineteenth century CDV that shows a grouping of seventeen small images that surround a central poem by the advertiser who, oddly enough, is not identified anywhere on the front or back of the CDV! The small images are of a variety of subjects including George Washington at the top, Martha Washington at the bottom, Peter Paul Rubens on the right, and various other images that appear to be of paintings.

The central text reads,

Apparently the CDV is soliciting customers to have their portraits done. Whether the portrait is done in a painting or as a photograph is not clear. From the images that are used on the CDV, I lean more towards someone doing painted portraits than CDV photographs but I can't be sure. The image measures 3 15/16" by 2 7/16". The image has some fading and there are a couple of small age spots in the image. The back is blank.
