Very lovely old antique Country Federal solid mahogany rectangle footstool that dates to the early 1800's and possibly earlier.  It has nicely carved sides and  turned legs.  The foot stool is constructed with pegs and wood glue blocks for support on the underside.  Screws were added much later for stability.  The tapestry fabric is old, slightly frayed, and not original to the piece.  It "sounds like" straw and cotton padding is under the fabric. One leg is slightly loose and needs to be reglued. 


18 1/2" x 14" x 9 1/2" tall
legs are 5" tall

I bought this at a fine estate auction.  It's a beautiful piece of Americana.
