Album notes
Since 1972, Texas' Kerrville Folk Festival has been home to a stunning variety of American music, including bluegrass, acoustic rock, jazz, and blues, as well as being one of the primary launching pads for the careers of such notable artists as Lyle Lovett, Lucinda Williams, and Michelle Shocked (whose first album, THE TEXAS CAMPFIRE TAPES, was recorded at the festival). This collection features live tracks from some of the many legendary and lesser-known performers who've graced the Kerrville stage over the years, including the folk singer Dave Van Ronk, the country artist Butch Hancock, the singer-songwriter Sarah Hickman, and the inimitable folk and blues singer Odetta.
