DESCRIPTION: Learning 2000 consists of 47 CD's, User Guide (I have scanned a few pages for you to see) , all housed in an attractive blue book binder with the Learning 2000 logo (I have scanned the binder and a few pages of the cdroms which are housed in their own sleeves - My camera is not working so I hope the scans work well enough). The book, CD's, and user guide are all in excellent condition. 1 CD Installation Disk, 11 CDs Math, 3 CDs Pre-Algebra, 13 Algebra 1 & 2, 14 CDs Reading (covers Revolution & Civil War, Early American History, Atoms and Chemistry, Charts, Graphs and Maps, Stories, and much, much more), 5 CDs on Writing (Nouns, Verbs, Style, and much more). I was impressed with the way the math, algebra, and geometry are explained in these programs. Also, the reading programs include Science, Physics, and even Post War Politics. The average cost for this program at various websites online is $500.00 to $700.00 per set

The program is filled with interactive demonstrations that help students to better understand the concepts being presented. Every interactive Library book begins with a placement test to identify what the student already knows and what concepts and information may be new. Inside each chapter are practice exercises, and each book has a final test. Important tools are available at your fingertips. The Library provides both a standard and a graphing calculator for the student to use in solving math problems. Your toolkit also includes a complete standard dictionary with thesaurus. Can be used to start with junior high students, or use as a complete high school program. Learning 2000 offers a complete program for GED preparation. Reading instruction includes the following fundamental skills: finding the main idea, identifying details, using context clues, drawing conclusions, and interpreting graphic materials. Additionally, concepts from a variety of subject areas are introduced, such as astronomy, geology, biology, chemistry, physics and U.S. history. The practical reading section emphasizes life skills. These books deal with health concerns, employment, home safety and consumer issues. Math instruction begins with basic problem solving and advances through algebra. Writing lessons include spelling, mechanics, usage, organization and writing style.
To begin instruction, the student chooses a lesson from the bookshelf. Typically, the student begins with a pretest, and then a suggested lesson plan is outlined. Lessons include vocabulary development, practice exercises, and application to real life situations. The student receives instant feedback, and if he answers incorrectly, he has the option to try again. A final test at the end of each book allows the student to reassess his progress. The record keeping system includes a complete list of lessons and allows the user to obtain information about the amount of time spent on each lesson, the date it was used, and the scores from the practice exercises and tests.
