Album notes
Post-hardcore quintet A Day to Remember hail from Florida, and combine the usual elements of hardcore, such as ominous growl-vocals and thundering rhythms and riffing, with a flair for melodic pop hooks. The combination doesn't sound like it should work, but it does, especially on the band's 2008 release, FOR THOSE WHO HAVE HEART. The change-up on tunes like "Speak of the Devil" and "Show Em the Ropes" include enough soaring choruses and singalong passages to satisfy mainstream and alternative rock fans, and enough furious jackhammer pounding and gruff death-barks to appease the heaviest metalheads. Editorial reviews
Ruthlessly anthemic and soaring, this will undoubtedly end up soundtracking many a summer of heartache. Kerrang
