This is a beautiful custom assembled On2 - Two Foot Narrow Gauge fine scale model of a three cylinder, two truck Lima Shay Locomotive.  The model is lettered as Gilpin RR #5 however it is not a model of any of the prototype Gilpin Railroad locomotives.  The model was originally based on locomotives #3 and #4 constructed in 1906 by the Lima Locomotive Works for the Silver City, Pinos Altos & Mogollon RR in New Mexico.  This is an "O" Scale 1/4" = 1 ft (1:48) scale brass Narrow Gauge model assembled from a kit composed primarily of lost-wax castings, machined parts and sheet brass produced by the Precision Scale Company in the early 1970's.  It is powered by a Grandt Line electric motor and transmission gear assembly mounted in the bunker.  The original builder added the figures and extra detail items.  The only problem detected with this model is that the delrin transmission gear attached to the electrical motor shaft slips when electrical power is applied.  This could be corrected by replacing the delrin gear with a new one that is currently available from serveral online retail sources.  Included with the purchase of this model are original manufacturers instructions and a copy of Model Railroader magazine, May 1971 featuring photos, drawings and a description of SCPA&M #3 and 4.
