Up for bid is a 60 volume set of the Great Books of the Western World—Encyclopedia Britannica—published by the University of Chicago in 1992.

 

This set of books has never been read! The books still have that crisp sound that brand new books have when you open them for the first time.  The tops of the pages are gilded in gold; the bindings on all of the books are tight; the spines are unbroken and are embossed with the title of the book.  The books' covers are black and are made to look like leather.  The color of the books’ spines are color coded as follows:

  • Blue: History, Politics, Economics, & Ethics
  • Gray: Mathematics & Natural Sciences
  • Green: Novels, Short Stories, Plays, & Poetry
  • Red: Philosophy & Religion
