Palatka is a city in Putnam County, Florida, United States.  It is the county seat of Putnam County and includes East Palatka. The city is home to St. Johns River Community College and Ravine Gardens State Park and hosts a bluegrass music festival twice a year.

Palatka has been a St Johns River crossing point and crossroads since pre-history.  Colonists used the Palatka river crossing and crossroads to deliver ranch-raised beef and agriculture across the river to St Augustine.  With the arrival of steamboats, Palatka became the most important port on the St Johns and, for a time, the most important in Florida.  There are historic districts, a traditional downtown, boating facilities and visitor attractions at Palatka.  The river remains an incredibly important natural and recreational resource.   Highway improvements bring millions from Kissimmee to South Georgia within 2 hours' drive times while Jacksonville, St Augustine, Gainesville, and Daytona are within an hour’s drive.
