AJ1002 Centennial Chippendale Leaded China Cabinet

Description

We are pleased to be offering this gorgeous centennial solid mahogany custom Chippendale leaded glass bookcase to you today.  Dating from the 1860's to the 1870's, this piece came out of an estate, was custom made, is truly a centennial piece, and it is gorgeous in person.  It has flame carved finials, a broken arch crown molding, and a fancy medallion top.  This cabinet features a leaf carved center with rope twisted columnin the acanthus style, rope braided molding on the base, raised panel faces on the end, cut dovetailed draws, and wonderfully detailed hand carved ball and claw feet.  It has a full-mirrored back and four wooden shelves, which are all at fixed height.  There is leaded glass is on both sides and on the front doors—there is a cracked glass near the colored petals on both the right hand side and the left hand side.  Both the right and left front door appears to be all-good with crack free glass, therefore, there are just two pieces of glass that appear to have cracks in them.  This piece is finished in a dark brown mahogany stain finish, and it looks as though it was replaced at one point, and it also appears as though the leaded glass was custom made for this closet, which would have been quite expensive.  The cabinet is great; I haven't seen a centennial cabinet like this one in a long, long time—dating from the 1860's to the 1870's, this is a very unique antique cabinet. The overall size is approximately 50 inches across the carved elbows of the cabriole legs, and the actual cabinet itself is 48 inches wide.  From the front to the back at the largest point is 18 inches deep, and the cabinet itself is 16 inches deep.  The overall height is approximately 86 inches tall to the top of the flame finial.  The heights of the shelves are 12 inches, 22 ½, 33, and 43 inches on the inside from the bottom up.  The depths of the shelves are approximately 11 inches and the width is 45 inches.  The finish is all original, it has some loss of finish here and there and shows some nicks and dings.  When someone did these shelves, they put in some shelf supports so that it can hold more weight than normal.  You are looking at an original piece that shows (after years of use) where the left hand door has scratched a line on the bottom shelf from the pin that hold the door closed.  Other than that and the two little small cracks in the glass, we have restored one little tip on one of the claw feet because it was damaged—we I know you would not be able to find it, but we did want to disclose that for clarification purposes. The overall condition is outstanding, and this piece even retains the original Chippendale handles on the drawers! The back is original and the top is original, too. It is just a good honest to goodness untouched Centennial Chippendale china closet/ bookcase.  Enjoy and have fun!
