Antique American Seating Co. Wood & Metal Combination Small School Desk

You are bidding on a small wood and metal antique school desk I picked up in south side Pittsburgh, PA. This is the combination type desk mounted in rows in a schoolroom with a flip-down seat for the student in front. This type of desk was manufactured by the American Seating Co., New York City, from 1911 when metal tubing was used for the legs. This desk has a solid wood top and a slot to hold pencils. The folding seat is fashioned of 3 pieces of wood joined by what appears to be a sort of tongue and groove joint. There is one open shelf to hold supplies. The tubular metal legs have holes at the feet to mount to flooring and are stamped "A S Co" with the number "6" on each side.

This desk is in very good condition, no cracks or major chips in the wood (I can't determine the type of wood, sorry), some rubbing around the rounded corners. All metal joints appear intact and strong, and the hinges are in very good working order. The entire desk has been brush painted but can easily be stripped and refinished. It measures a total 23 inches high, 18 inches wide, about 28 inches long with the seat fully extended.
