HELLO all you antiquers, collectors and perusers... this is the deal. I am liquidating my parents' estate, and they happened to be antiquers and collectors. I am NOT an expert but I will do my best to describe things. This auction is for an absolutely beautiful, 9 1/4" tall, carnival glass vase. I do love the gradual and beautiful gradation of color from the lighter colored bottom to the richly hued top and the variations of color throughout. The top of the vase has a 2mm fleabite right on the tulip shaped rim - see picture. This could easily be covered by a floral bouquet. There is a 1cm chip on the bottom rim which cannot be seen when the vase is standing upright. A very kind e-bayer alerted me to a site which I believe gave me an answer to my question of the date and manufacture of this lovely vase. Once I inspected the vase within the parameters of the description, it seems to match. I counted the points of the star on the bottom and indeed there are 23. There also seems to be 14 subtle interior panels. I believe my vase to be one as described below. Thank you kind e-bayer. I believe these vases were produced between 1904 and 1941. I quote from the site.... "Known in marigold, amethyst, and light blue with 14 subtle interior panels. Writing in the December 2004, Carnival Pump (International Carnival Glass Association), Larry Keig says, "The Optic pattern seems to have been confined only to vases of a moderate size. They range in height from about 7.5 inches tall to a bit over 9 inches, depending on how much they were swung during production. A simple pattern made up of a paneled interior and a star base, they are plain on the outside. The 23-point star is pressed into the exterior of the 2.5-inch base. The configuration of their tops is characteristically Dugan/Diamond, the hexagonal flat-paneled treatment that is also seen on most Circle Scroll, Lattice and Points, and Nautilus and on many Standard vases." (Still from the website) "The only one of these I have record of selling at auction was in marigold and brought just $10 in 2002, but I suspect that, because of the rarity, they should be worth much more. In 2006, one of these sold on eBay for $86, mostly I think, because they cited this page in the ad." Please visit my other auctions. I am adding new things as often as possible. Payments are due within 5 days from end of auction. Payment through PayPal only. Buyer to pay shipping and handling which will be within 3 business days after full payment is received.
