Movie description
A pair of stars from the 1980s found resurrection in this highly rated crowd-pleaser. Both actors are playing to type--Charlie Sheen is the wise-cracking womanizer Charlie, while Jon Cryer is his nerdy brother, Alan--but that doesn’t lower the laughs for the many fans of the Emmy-winning series. When Alan’s shrill wife (Marin Hinkle) divorces him, he arrives at Charlie’s doorstep with his young son, Jake (Angus T. Jones), in tow. Charlie finds his freewheeling lifestyle at a Malibu beach house threatened by the appearance of his brother and nephew, but a desire to help wins in the end. TWO AND A HALF MEN may be about a family, but this is no typical family sitcom; Charlie’s foul but funny talk about his ever-changing love life frequently earns Jake--and young audience members--a ticket out of the room. The show’s talented cast is rounded out by Holland Taylor as the pair’s hard-drinking mother and Conchata Ferrell as the gruff housekeeper. This collection includes the series’ first six seasons.
