Rare Guy Wolff 19th Century Style American Flower Pot with attached saucer

The Ipswitch

  • Inspiration for the Ipswitch pot comes from the southwestern Wisconsin potteries found near Belmont and Mineral Point in the 1840's. Underneath its piecrust rim, reminiscent of Cornish pasties.This pot was handthrown by Peter Wakefield Jackson at Wakefield Studio outside 1/4 mile east of the Village of Rockdale, Wisconsin.
  • It is stamped "G. Wolff & Co., 2005"
  • It is made from white terra cotta clay, hand finished with a mineral wash, and then fired to approximately 1950 degrees F.
  • After firing, it was hand rubbed with a stain wash.  This is a finish that was never put into production, but was experimental.
  • The approximate dimensions are:
    • #2 size 5.5" x 5"
  • Wakefield Studio has been Guy Wolff's only domestic production partner, and since 1996 has handmade all the USA made Guy Wolff pots that were offered to stores such as Smith & Hawken, and other high end garden retailers.
