Guy Wolff #6 Scallop Pot

Handthrown by the Guy Wolff Guid in Honduras

  • Guy designed this pot with inspiration from French pots of the 19th century that had scallop rims like this.  This style has been one of the most popular in the Guy Wolff line over the years, and was sold at Smith & Hawken and other stores.
  •  It is also stamped with "G. Wolff & Co." and the #6. The #6 refers to the pounds of wet clay that the potter used to make the pot. This is a tradition that goes back to Victorian times.
  • The piece is made from red terra cotta clay, fired to approximately 1800 degrees F, and then hand finished with a Willow stain wash.
  • It measures 10.5" top diameter, 8" tall.
  • In 1998 shortly after Hurricane Mitch, Peter Wakefield Jackson took Guy Wolff to Honduras to work with a talented group of potters who were trained to make Guy's traditional garden pottery forms.
  • Wakefield Studio has been Guy Wolff's only domestic production partner, and since 1996 has handmade all the USA made Guy Wolff pots that were offered to stores such as Smith & Hawken, and other high end garden retailers.
  • Other Guy Wolff and Peter Wakefield items can be found at www.wakefieldstudio.com
