WHY CHOOSE COPPER?

Copper sinks are the absolute best product to use for bath/bar/kitchen applications. Copper sinks are extremely easy to care for, (*just soap and water) and they naturally contain anti-bacterial properties. * germs and bacteria can't live on the surface of copper for more than a couple of hours in comparison to other materials where germs can survive for up to 3 weeks, Amazing!!!

Copper Sinks are hand formed from the finest quality copper available today. The Patinas are created by a firing process and will change over time, developing more interest and variations. A copper finish is a living finish and never really stops changing in color. You can greatly reduce this change with the use of an auto (Paste) wax and or furniture oils such as Pledge Lemon Oil. Sinks can also be sealed with olive oil (oils will darken and enrich color somewhat. Use the auto wax a few times a year or the Lemon oil as often as you like.

Please be aware that all rustic sinks and tubs have a finish that is by nature uneven and variable in color and pattern. In addition, the dimensions and consistency of shape can vary considerably. We offer these sinks and tubs with the view that these variations are part of the rustic character and charm, and do not constitute defects.

Copper is also malleable. Materials that are malleable can be hammered or stretched or rolled into various shapes with relative ease, while still maintaining their strength. Some metals, like copper, are also ductile, which means they are flexible. Should your sink arrive with a bent edge, it can be hammered back into position with little effort. Use a wooden or rubber mallet to straighten any edges that may have been altered in shipping.

Gauge of Copper:

The gauge of a Mexican copper sink is pretty standard to the region, at least for all copper coming out of Santa Clara. The standard for small bath and bar sinks is 18 gauge, while larger bar and kitchen sinks are 16 gauge and finally, tubs at 14 gauge. Our farmhouse sinks are the exception as their aprons are 14 gauge with a rolled over bottom edge to give added support. All farmhouse sinks also have structure tabs welled at the middle and the corners to give that apron added stability. I’d question anyone stating anything different on the gauge.

Sealed vs. unsealed:

Our sinks are not sealed; to seal it would negate the positive attribute of coppers antimicrobial qualities. Antibacterial cleaning products are everywhere! From dish soap to surface cleansers, we are able to eradicate potentially growing bacteria and germs from our surfaces. In our hectic lives, wouldn’t it be great if some surfaces could be germ resistant without the extra cleanser?

Fortunately, copper possesses antimicrobial properties that essentially make it a germ killer. Amazingly, copper surfaces kill 99.9% of bacteria within 2 hours. Bacteria such as E. Coli and Staphylococcus aureus are eliminated on a non-coated copper surface. Over 300 copper alloys have been registered with the US EPA as materials that kill these bacteria. Sound unbelievable? Care & Maintenance:

To protect the finish on copper sinks avoid using abrasive cleaners. No coarse, acidic, or alcohol based cleaners should be used. No Steel wool, Brillo pads, or wire brushes as they can may scratch copper surfaces. Clean with hot soapy water and scrub with a soft nylon brush. For Tough stains try using a paste of baking soda and water applied with a sponge. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth. Copper sinks can be used for all normal household tasks but avoid prolonged surface exposure to acidic foods such as tomato sauce and citrus products. If these products sit overnight in direct contact with copper, the surface may discolor. Should the surface discolor, it will start to darken back down with use. This darkening process time will depend on how much use the sink gets. The more it is used, the faster the process.

Patina:

Charco (Dark Chocolate) is the most requested and purchased color (patina). Dark is the natural progression of the copper color in the oxidation process. It is achieved with a heat process to accelerate the oxidation of the copper, or to age it. The dark patina, if lightened for any reason, will darken over time and with use. It is not an automatic process, but it does indeed start to darken in a matter of weeks, sometimes even days.

There are several colors on the market these days that are quite beautiful. You will notice disclaimers that color is not guaranteed and may change with use. It will turn DARK as it does naturally. If it’s sealed with a lacquer, it could change, should the sealer crack or wear. Dark is natural, natural is best and can be utilized in a rustic or contemporary setting.

We will also accept cashier’s checks; however that may delay the timely shipping of your sink. Payment must be made within 5 days of purchase to avoid a non-paying bidder strike. All Texas residence are subject to and will be charged 8.25% sales tax.

Delivery:

CU ships via UPS Ground and UPS Freight to confirmed addresses only. Tracking numbers will be provided via email the day after the item ships. While most of our auctions are open to international shipping, International bidders please email us your shipping address and the sink you are bidding on so we can get you an accurate quote before you complete your purchase. *Most items will ship same business day as payment. Allow 3 to 5 days delivery in most cases. Should there be a delay for any reason, you will be contacted via email with an estimated ship time.

Return Policy:

Buyer must Report Damage within 48 hours of receipt so a claim may be executed on your behalf. Failure to do so will render the auction as a final sale with no refund or exchange option.

Return Sink Authorization must be requested 7 days from date of receipt. An RSA must be issued before the merchandise can be accepted at warehouse. A 20% restocking fee and original estimated shipping/handling charges will be deducted from the refund amount. All items must be returned in original packing materials in new and resalable condition. A copy of the Return request must be visible on the outside of the box. If it is not attached, the return will be refused and the merchandise will be shipped back to you at your expense. There are no exceptions to our return policies.
