We cannot, for obvious reasons, take responsibility for items once they leave our care. Insurance is up to you.
If an item is damaged in transit (it has only happened once) we will not refund or replace it.

  • We accept returns for any reason as long as the item is in the same condition as shipped. The item:
    • Must not be broken
    • Must be postmarked no later than 14 days after delivery.
    • If  you are returning something because you don't like it, we refund 100% of the auction fee, but no shipping.
    • If we misrepresented the item (listing error, etc), we will also refund 100% of the shipping in both directions.
    • If you are returning an item for fit, please try having it adjusted locally by an optician before returning it. Most eyewear requires some adjustment.
  • Because we do not accept broken items for return, we urge you to buy insurance. It is your responsibility.





We have spent a third of a century in ophthalmic optics, and we love vintage and antique eyewear. We spend many hours restoring the eyewear you see on our auctions. We have many parts that are long discontinued, and we have some parts made for us. We machine and hand polish these frames, completely disassemble them, inspect them, tune them, etc... We discuss them, we bring them to the dinner table. We show them to strangers. We wake the dog up and ask her if a frame has the right luster.
We use high power magnifiers for frame inspection and we take very detailed photos so you can see a frame as though you were holding it.
