This is a 1962 hardback book by Faith McNulty and illustrated by Leonard Weisgard called When a boy wakes up in the morning.  Publisher is Alfred A. Knopf of New York. 

This is a cute story of a boy who wakes up early and tries to find things to occupy him until his mother gets up. 

It is a discarded library copy with the usual markings.  It has a good dust jacket with some tears along the spine as can be seen in the pics.
