A 200 year old antique German Stein made of copper with a beutiful old patina commemorating the defeat of 3 Roman legions. This year 2009, marks the 2000th year anniversary of Rome's loss of three legions under the command of Publius Quinctilius Varus in 9 AD in the Teutoburg forest. The Kalkriese Museum in Germany has many battle artifacts from this engagement. I am selling my private collection of which this stein is part of. This Stein took me 10 years to find. If you are interested in ancinet military history, arms and armor (armour) , check out my web sites. For individuals interested in joining up with an International Roman reenactment group, go to www.legionten.org . Besides Roman, we also do Greek, Macedonian, Spartan and other ancient time periods. We have members in many states as well as in Europe. We also just completed a reenactment with others of the German allie (?) Arminius defeat of Varus and the destruction of Legions XVII, XVIII and XVIIII in central USA in a full scale Roman Fort. I made a special standard for Legion XVIII for this event which is also now up for sale for $1285. The bull is done in gold wire and all metal part are either brass, or silvered brass, so no parts will ever rust. The mask seen is $250 and limited to 100 copies in silvered brass. It can also be purchased in cold cast silvered brass for $110 and is also limited to 100 copies. |
