I have more nice things for sale this week so if you have time click on the 'see other items' link on this page. I'm always happy to combine shipping on multiple purchases.
This is a scarce item & important piece of Kensington Aluminum Co. history. It's a pattern or die stamp used to impress the design into the art aluminum made by the defunct Kensington division of the Alcoa Aluminum Company. It came from the estate of one of the art designers that worked for Kensington, now deceased. I have about 15 of these, all different patterns, including the rooster, steamboat with seagulls & laurel leaves. I'm not an authority on Kensington, so I don't know the proper names for the patterns. Since the man was a designer, the possibility is there that one of these stamps may have never been used in production.
This one features a coach & horses with stars [I think[ at the top. It is 3 -3/4" in diameter, about 1 -3/8" high & weighs a whopping 3 pound 15 ounces. I think it could have been used, but I'm not sure. It's got some kind of sticky grease on it, probably to keep it from rusting, so I guess it could be iron or steel.
If you are a serious Kensington collector, here's your chance to own a piece of company history.
