Synopsis
After seeing many people on their deathbeds, healer Stephen Levine noted a common regret for time wasted, unrealized dreams, and disputes between family members never resolved. Levine decided to address these issues in his own life before it was too late, to live for a year as if it were his last. The results of this experiment are recorded in this wondrous book, designed to help readers see the light long before it's time to go. The reader is urged to find a spot in his or her home where they might want to die, a comfortable place from which to perform an array of meditations that change over the course of the year. "We imagine we own this body, but it is ours only on consignment," he writes, and now is the time to ready ourselves for the expiration of that consignment period. Chapters cover topics such as "Life Review," "Gratitude," and "Fear of Fear." Different meditations are suggested to help embrace each of the concepts, originating from many different cultures, including Buddhist and Native American. Appendices address group practice of the techniques, some great personal and mythological stories, and further reading recommendations.

Publisher's Note
Contemporary spiritual teacher Sogyal Rinpoche's "The Tibetan Book of Living and Dying dealt with how to use the consciousness of our mortality to live a better life. Now the author of the perennial bestseller "Who Dies?" tells us how to live mindfully each moment, each hour, each day as if it were all that was left.

Industry reviews
"I can think of no one better qualified to help us enrich our lives through embracing the mystery of death."
other - Ram Dass

"This remarkable book steers us toward an earthiness and humility necessary for a full life."
other - Thomas Moore

It is best if you know that I was once housed in a library so I do carry the usual discard stamps on my 1st and last fly page, and my dust jacket is covered in a Mylar protector with identifying markers on the upper and lower spine. Otherwise you will find that my large print pages are free of other forms of marking, soiling, or previous dog eared pages all of which remain crisp and bright. My binding is nice and snug and spine straight. http://s3.amazonaws.com/monsoon/-D2xWz4c1as33T4yk9GqBw__/mon0000007701/image1.jpg Please do not buy books from us!
