Elegia capensis –Restionaceae - ‘Horsetail Restio.' - I was excited to be able to offer this species, considered by many to be one of the most outstanding. Seed germination has been extremely poor however, so this will be offered in small quantities at this time. This is a tall, dark green, elegant Restio with feathery nodding stems heavily covered with thread like leaves in a beautiful network, and with large decorative papery sheaths from which the leaves emerge.

It grows to 6-10' tall and likes a regular source of water although not with submerged roots. It is an excellent plant for the edge of a pond or as a focal element in the landscape that always looks good and green. It is hardy to at least 20º F.

The shipping and handling charges are calculated automatically by ebay using the weight of the order and the USPS shipping charts. A lot of time and materials go into the preparation of your plants for the journey, which is reflected in the small handling charge per plant. I assure you - not a penny goes to waste! Larger orders reduce the shipping cost per plant substantially.

I reserve the right to delay shipments to particular areas of the country due to extreme heat, unseasonable cold, or other unforeseen circumstances, and you will be informed of any such delays.Please note that I am currently prohibited by agricultural regulations from mailing out of the US, to the state of Hawaii, and the US territories including Puerto Rico.
