Antique Begging BRASS DOG figure
It's not too early to think about Christmas ... considering the economy, and the trend to be 'green' - why not give antique/collectible gifts this year? It shows you're unique, will probably be a better quality item, and may even hold it's value (possibly appreciate) in the long run ............ Just something to think about!
I purchased this estate piece with several nice C1850 items - but have no further information about it
Very detailed brass dog (I don't recognise the breed) in the begging position with wonderful old patina
Solid brass, standing only 5" high but weighing almost 1.5 lbs.
The bottom has a tiny threaded hole where it was once attached to some sort of base (?). A knowledgable ebay'er feels it was once part of a clock - but I can not confirm this.
Makes a great figurine, sets a little wobbly - If I were keeping him I would add felt to remedy this/
