Large Marble Pyramid Box - 12" - cool remote holder

We purchased this interesting pyramid-shaped box at an estate auction; no information was avilable on age or origin.  It's quite large -- 12+" square.  Lid is hinged, opening with a rectangular knob; inside and bottom are lined in black velvet.  Walls of box are just under 1/2" thick so there's quite a lot of room inside.

Exterior appears to be marble in white-gray-light brown.  I don't know if the 1/2" walls are all stone or wood, etc. with thin slabs applied.  PLEASE NOTE:  I know there is some very good 'faux marble', bonded/cultured, etc. but I'm guessing this is real...cool to the touch, no repeat patterns, fairly heavy, etc.  Without a label or any other information I can't verify that.

CONDITION:  Previously owned.  There are some random small nicks on the box (not very noticeable) but most appear to be natural.  **The very tip of the pyramid is chipped -- see photo -- but because the box is so large it's not all that noticeable either.  There is also a small chip on one corner of the lid but not objectionable (see photo).  Interior is in nice condition.
